ROSEMONT, ILL. – Penn State men’s soccer defender Matthew Henderson has been named the Big Ten’s Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Henderson scored the equalizing goal in the Nittany Lions’ victory over St. John’s last Tuesday, 2-1. The co-captain notched his second olimpico after Penn State was awarded a corner kick in the 75th minute. Five minutes later, Henderson dished out an assist on Michael Hewes’ match winning goal.
The Larkhall, Scotland native has started in every match this season. He currently leads with eight points coming from three goals and two assists.
Penn State will resume conference play Tuesday, October 1 at 6 p.m. (ET) against No. 12 Maryland. The match will be streamed on Big Ten Network.
