Women’s Gymnastics Announces 2025 Schedule

Penn State to host four home meets plus NCAA Regional in Rec Hall

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State women’s gymnastics team announces its 2025 competition schedule, which includes four regular season home meets in Rec Hall. The Nittany Lions are also set to host an NCAA Regional at home in Happy Valley.

“Since the announcement of the conference expansion we have been so excited to share our 2025 schedule,” said Head Coach Sarah Brown. “Our team is looking forward to visiting new venues, competing against tough opponents, and representing Penn State with pride in the Big Ten conference. We look forward to hosting four regular season home meets, including three Big Ten duals against Illinois, Rutgers, and Ohio State in Rec Hall.”

In addition to new regular season opponents, the 2025 postseason will look different this year. What was once two “Big 5” postseason qualifier meets are now split into three “Big 4” meets, and an additional session of Big Ten Championships is added to the slate. Following those changes, the Nittany Lions will then host an NCAA Regional at home in Rec Hall.

“It’s always an honor to be selected to host an NCAA post-season event,” Brown continued. “We were set to host in 2020, but were not able to due to the pandemic, so we’re glad to have the opportunity to show off our first-class facilities this time around. I know our staff will run an incredible event. It will also be an exciting experience for our team, especially the seniors, who will get to show off their skills in the postseason in an outstanding home atmosphere.”

The 61st team in Penn State women’s gymnastics history will open its 2025 season with a home tri-meet against New Hampshire and Penn on Sunday, January 5 at 2 p.m. The squad will then hit the road for the San Antonio Invite against Arizona State and Auburn on Saturday, January 11 at 1 p.m.

Penn State will travel to Minnesota on Saturday, January 18 for its 2025 Big Ten opener, set to commence at 5 p.m. The Nittany Lions will then welcome Rutgers and Illinois to Happy Valley in consecutive weeks, beginning with the Scarlet Knights on Friday, January 24, Penn State’s Big Ten home opener, and then the Fighting Illini on Friday, January 31. Both home meets are set to begin at 6 p.m.

The Nittany Lions will then embark on a Big Ten road trip, first to Maryland on Friday, February 7 at 6:30 p.m. and then to UCLA on Friday, February 14 at 11 p.m. for a late-night dual on the Big Ten Network. The group will return to host the Buckeyes of Ohio State in Rec Hall on Saturday, February 22 at 2 p.m.

The following week, Penn State will compete in the newly-minted Big 4 meet at Iowa on Sunday, March 2 at 6 p.m. In Iowa City, the Nittany Lions will battle the host Hawkeyes, as well as the Spartans of Michigan State and the Huskies of Washington. This meet will also be televised by the Big Ten Network.

The Nittany Lions conclude their regular season with trips to George Washington on Sunday, March 9 (1 p.m.) and Clemson on Friday, March 14 (7 p.m.).

Penn State’s postseason slate will begin with a trip to the Big Ten Championships, this year hosted in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

“We can’t wait to see how the new championship schedule will play out,” said Brown. “With the Big 4 meets and the additional session of Big Ten Championships, we are thrilled for the opportunity to compete at a high level against outstanding teams.”

Next, the Nittany Lions will host, and compete in, NCAA Regionals during the first week of April. The 2025 gymnastics season will conclude at the NCAA Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, from April 17-19.
