UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 12/12 Penn State women’s ice hockey team completed the series sweep over Dartmouth with a 4-1 victory on Saturday afternoon.
Freshman Grace Outwater scored the first two goals of her career which propelled the team to victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- With 2:09 left in the opening period, Tessa Janecke fired a shot at the Dartmouth goaltender which rebounded into the stick of Katelyn Roberts and she pushed the puck in to score and put the Nittany Lions ahead 1-0.
- Dartmouth responded with 10:53 left in the second frame as Mia Buonarosa received the puck from Ella Englis and Buonarosa then fired the goal from the slot to tie the game up at 1-1.
- Then with 6:24 left in the second period, a pass by Kendall Butze would land on the stick of Stella Retrum and she would slide the puck passed the Dartmouth netminder to put Penn State ahead 2-1.
- With 3:51 remaining in the period, Brianna Brooks would receive the puck off from the opposite end of the ice and fed it to Outwater in the slot and scored to put Penn State ahead 3-1.
- Outwater continued her hot stick on the power-play with 15:05 remaining in the third period as she would tap in the puck in front of the goalie and score after a feed from Brooks to lead Penn State to a 4-1 victory and the series sweep of the Big Green.
GOALTENDERS
- Junior goalie Katie DeSa picked up her second straight victory in net as she recorded 12 saves on 13 shots attempted. Her record now improves to 5-2-0 on the year.
- Dartmouth goalie Michaela Hesova tallied 34 saves on 38 shots attempted. Her record drops to 0-2-0 on the year.
STATS AND NOTES
- Penn State improves to 6-2-0 on the year while Dartmouth drops to 0-2-0.
- Outwater scored her first two goals of her career. The last time a Nittany Lion scored two goals in one game came on October 12, 2024, when Alyssa Machado scored a pair at Union.
- Penn State had three players that tallied a multi-point game, Outwater (2g), Brooks (2a), and Roberts (1g, 1a).
- Penn State is currently on a five-game win streak.
- The Nittany Lions went 1-6 on the power-play while Dartmouth was held to going 0-5 on the man-advantage.
- Today’s attendance of 1,404 was the 10th highest in program history.
- Penn State allowed only three goals in the series against Dartmouth which is the lowest number of goals allowed in a series this season.

The Nittany Lions return to action on Friday, October 25 when they face sixth-ranked Cornell in Columbus, Ohio for the opening round of the 2024 Ice Breaker Tournament. Puck-drop is set for 12 p.m.
