Penn State Fencing Opens Season This Weekend at Temple Open

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; – The Penn State Nittany Lion men’s and women’s fencing teams, under the guidance of Matteo Zennaro, open their 2024-25 seasons at Temple’s Nikki Franke Open in Philadelphia. The women compete on Saturday, Oct. 26, and the men compete on Sunday, Oct. 27. 

Competing for the Nittany Lion women will be Ariel Rastep, Thea Fernandes, Mikaela Yhip, in foil; Allegra Cristofoletto and Claire Haas, in epee; Amelia Baker, Eve Scott, Emma Holmes in saber. 

The Nittany Lion men will send Caiden Cannon, Yaroslav Muruhin, Jun Ahn, Julian Chin, Michael DeSando, Sebastian Bonomo, Dusan Zeljkovic in foil; Sultan Hassan, Joshua Yavorovskiy, and Vasil Ivakimov in epee; Kamar Skeete, Carlos Fernando Chacon, and Nicholaus Zielinski in saber. 

Following this weekend’s action, select Penn State fencers will take part in the NAC event in Louisville, Ky., on Saturday through Monday, Nov. 8-11.
