Eight Nittany Lions Compete at Temple Open

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; – The Penn State women’s fencing team began its season today at the Nikke Franke Open at Temple. Eight Nittany Lions competed in the women’s portion of the open with the men set to fence tomorrow. 

Out of 80 women’s foil participants, Ariel Ratsep finished in 14th place. Mikaela Yhip finished in 27th place and Thea finished 43rd 

In women’s epee, Allegra Cristofellow finished in 19th place and Claire Haas finished 46th. 

The sabre squad featured a third-place finish for Eve Scott. Stephanie Jen came in 17th. Emma Holmes came in 31st  and Amelia Baker in 50th 

The men compete in Philadelphia tomorrow, closing out the opening weekend of action for Penn State fencing. Following this weekend’s action, select Penn State fencers will take part in the NAC event in Louisville, Ky., on Saturday through Monday, Nov. 8-11.
