Women’s Hockey Captures Two AHA Weekly Awards

Lyndie Lobdell was named AHA Defensive Player of the Week while Grace Outwater was named AHA Rookie of the Week.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women’s ice hockey team captured a pair of Atlantic Hockey America weekly awards as the league announced on Monday.

Lyndie Lobdell was named AHA Defensive Player of the Week while Grace Outwater earned AHA Rookie of the Week honors.

Outwater earns her second AHA weekly award of the year after she tallied her first career hat-trick with three goals and two assists against Stonehill on Saturday. It was her second multi-goal game of the season. 

The last time a Nittany Lion tallied a hat-trick came on January 26, 2024, when Tessa Janecke tallied three goals against Lindenwood. Outwater’s five points was the first time a Nittany Lion tallied five points or more in a single game since January 26, 2024, when Janecke tallied six against Lindenwood.

On the year, Outwater sits tied for 10th in the nation and tied for third among rookies nationally in points with 10 and sits tied for third in the AHA in points.

Lobdell recorded three assists in Saturday’s victory over Stonehill. Her three assists led all other Penn State defensemen this weekend in points. She also recorded one blocked shot against Stonehill. The Aura, Ill. native tallied her first three point game of the season and second multi-assist game of the year.

On the year, Lobdell has recorded two goals and six assists for eight points. The award is her second Defensive Player of the Week honor of the year.

Penn State returns to action on Thursday, October 31 when they host Syracuse. Puck-drop is set for 6 p.m.
