UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - No. 6/6/7 Penn State welcomes Washington to Beaver Stadium on Saturday, November 9. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. on Peacock.
PENN STATE WHITE OUT: The Nittany Lions will host their 16th full stadium Penn State White Out on Saturday. The tradition stretches back to a student section White Out in 2004. Penn State is 9-6 in the White Out. The Nittany Lions have won four-straight White Out games and five of the last six, including last season's 31-0 win over Iowa.
SERIES HISTORY: Penn State meets Washington for the fourth time in program history. The programs last met in the regular season in 1921, a 21-7 Penn State victory. The Nittany Lions also earned wins in the 1983 Aloha Bowl (13-10) and the 2017 Fiesta Bowl (35-28). In the Fiesta Bowl, Trace McSorley threw for 342 yards and two touchdowns, connecting with DaeSean Hamilton for 110 yards and two touchdowns. Saquon Barkley rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns, including a PSU bowl-record 92-yard run.
WARREN APPROACHING RECORDS: Tyler Warren is approaching multiple Penn State tight end records, both career and season records. Warren owns 15 career receiving touchdowns, one shy of Pat Freiermuth's 16 in 2018-20. He also has 100 career receptions, trailing only Mike Gesicki's 129 in 2014-17, and 1,212 career receiving yards, behind only Gesicki's 1,481. Warren's 51 receptions this season are second to Gesicki's 57 receptions in 2017 and his 606 receiving yards are behind only Gesicki's 679 in 2016.
DEFENSIVE TOUCHDOWNS: Zion Tracy picked off a pass and returned it 31 yards for a touchdown against Ohio State, following Jaylen Reed's 19-yard pick-six at Wisconsin. Penn State had interception returns for touchdowns in back-to-back games for the first time since 2003 (Yaacov Yisrael, 83 yards at Iowa; Alan Zemaitis, 78 yards vs. Ohio State).
THE OPPOSITION: Washington is 5-4 overall and improved to 3-3 in Big Ten play with a 26-21 win over USC last Saturday. Jonah Coleman rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns, while Will Rogers threw for 262 yards. Denzel Boston had nine catches for 99 yards. LB Carson Bruener had two interceptions to go with a team-high 12 tackles.
