UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Redshirt junior midfielder Ben Liscum of men’s soccer and sophomore saber Eunyu Kim of women’s fencing have each been recognized as the Student-Athletes of the Month, as announced by the Morgan Academic Center (MAC) and PSU’s academic services staff on Wednesday.
Kim, a native of Seoul, Korea, is currently enrolled in the Division of Undergraduate Studies and has plans to pursue a SMEAL business degree. The sophomore posted a 17-16 record in her first season of action. She was named a 2024 first-team All-Region honoree in saber and finished fourth at the 2024 NCAA Regionals. In her first action of the 2024-25 season, Kim helped PSU to a 3-1 finish at the Penn Invitational, including a sweep in saber.
Liscum, a Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, native, is a finance major who has earned a 3.72 GPA over his career. The three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree leads the Nittany Lions on and off the field. The redshirt junior has three goals and two assists across his career and was named to the 2024 Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. Liscum is a major advocate for community service. He has helped organize many trips to local elementary schools where he and teammates go to read to the kids and play with them at recess.
The MAC Student-Athletes of the Month (SAOTM) are students who exemplify the PSU values of Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Discovery, and Community as well as the Athletics values of Tradition, Teamwork, Diversity, Innovation, and Resilience. At least one female and one male student-athlete will be selected each month, and those students must be in good academic standing, demonstrate strong accountability, and be an example of the leadership on campus and in their community. They are nominated and selected by the Penn State academic services staff.
