Men's Lacrosse to Host Scrimmage Against Bucknell at Holuba Hall, Saturday

Scrimmage begins at noon and there is a 700 person attendance limit.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's lacrosse team opens their 2025 pre-season with a scrimmage on Saturday, January 18, against Bucknell in Holuba Hall at noon. Holuba will only allow 700 fans to be in the facility at one time. 

The Nittany Lions return 32 players from the 2024 squad and welcome in 17 newcomers to the team for 2025. Penn State’s leading returner is Matt Traynor. Traynor tallied 45 goals and seven assists in his junior season for a career-high 52 points. For his 2024 season play, the Big Ten named Traynor to the All-Big Ten Second Team.

The Nittany Lions also return two-time Big Ten Specialist of the Year, Jack Fracyon, who recorded 209 saves and a save percentage of .571 in 2024. Fracyon earned All-American honors by USA Lacrosse, Inside Lacrosse, and the USILA in his junior season.

Penn State is coming off a pair of 11-5 seasons in 2023 and 2024 with appearances to the NCAA tournament during both years. Head coach Jeff Tambroni will take the helm as head coach for the 15th time in 2025 as the team seeks for their first NCAA tournament title in program history. 

The Nittany Lions open the 2025 regular season campaign on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 1 p.m. when they host Colgate.
