UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa - The Nittany Lions welcomed the Princeton Tigers and Virginia Tech Hokies to McCoy Natatorium on Saturday. Following a hard fought battle, Penn State lost each of its matchups, dropping against Princeton 178-122, and falling 193-107 against Virginia Tech.
Penn State falls to 0-14 all-time against the Hokies, and 1-3 to the Tigers.
The Nittany Lions are now 3-4 on the season.
Top Swims
Junior Eduardo Cisternas tallied a third place finish with a 9:11.49in the 1000 Free, closely trailed by freshman Rylan Anselm who finished in fourth with a swift 9:12.09. Cisternas added another third place finish in the 500 Free with a tight time of 4:25.65.
Cooper Morley added a tight second place finish in the 100 Back with a 46.90, just 0.02 seconds behind his closest competitor. Another podium finish was in the cards for Morley as he touched third in the 100 Fly with a 47.53.
Mariano Lazzerini added a second place finish in the 100 Breast with a 53.81, followed by Filipe Pinheiro who touched fourth with a 54.11. Lazzerini touched second in the 200 Breast as well with a 1:57.98 finish.
Tylor Kim touched second with a 43.38 finish in the 100 Free competition, while contributing to a second place finish in the 200 Medley relay.
Relays
The Blue and White started off with the 200 Medley Relay, with notable contributions from Matthew Bittner, Mariano Lazzerini, Cooper Morley and Tylor Kim, the group touched second with a final time of 1:25.44.
Penn State added a third place finish in the 400 Free relay with a final time of 2:55.48, at the hands of Toni Slavica, Cooper Morley, Jack Harvey and Tylor Kim.
Diving
Sophomore Hayden Elliott touched second in the one meter competition with a 333.0, and in the three meter with a 313.45.
Penn State returns to competition with another home meet weekend Friday, Jan. 31 against Army, and Saturday Feb. 1 against West Virginia.
