BOSTON – Atlantic Hockey America named Penn State women’s ice hockey goaltender Katie DeSa Goaltender of the Week and forward Grace Outwater Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon.
DeSa captured a pair of wins against Bemidji State and Minnesota this week. She made 55 saves and allowed just two goals against the third-ranked Golden Gophers which lead to the Nittany Lions 6-2 victory.
This season, DeSa holds a record of 14-4-0 which sits second in the nation while having a goals-against average of 1.62, which ranks ninth nationally. In conference play, DeSa leads the AHA with a 1.28 goals-against average and .945 save percentage in eight conference games. This is DeSa’s sixth weekly award honor this season and eighth weekly honor of her career.
Outwater tallied three goals in two games played this week. She tallied a pair of goals and Bemidji State on January 3 and scored one goal against third-ranked Minnesota. The Picton, Ontario native, has scored a goal in five of the last eight games for the Nittany Lions. She currently sits second in the nation among rookies in points with 20 and first among rookies in goals with 11. The weekly honor is her third this season.
Penn State returns to action on Friday, January 10 when they host RIT for a two-game series. The puck-drops at 2 p.m.
