Penn State Women’s Swim and Dive Close Out Day Two of Big Ten Championships

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State women’s swimming and diving team completed day two of the 2025 Big Ten Championships on Thursday. Two Nittany Lions, Morgan Moore and Margaret Markvardt, qualified for finals in individual events with the 200 Freestyle Relay competing as well. After day two, Penn State currently stands at 12th place overall.

PRELIMINARIES

  • Junior Morgan Moore competed in the 500 Free, finishing second in her heat with a time of 4:43.59, just 0.08 seconds behind the first-place finisher. The time qualified her for the C-Final of the event.
  • Freshman Nittany Lion Audrey Cohen had an impressive swim in the 200 IM, recording a time of 2:02.74 a new personal record.
  • Continuing in the 200 IM, junior Catherine Meisner dominated her heat, finishing first with a new personal best time of 1:59.98.
  • Margaret Markvardt closed out the 200 IM for Penn State, swimming a 1:57.68 which qualified her for the B-Final and broke her personal record in the event.

FINALS

  • Morgan Moore recorded a time of 4:49.30 in the 500 Free finals, good for 24th place and one team point.
  • Graduate student Margaret Markvardt excelled in the 200 IM, recording a new personal record in the process. She swam a quick 1:57.03 good for 12th place, NCAA B-Cut distinctions, and 15 team points.
  • In the 200 Free Relay, the squad made up of Margaret Markvardt, Maura, Fluehr, Catherine Meisner, and Audrey Cohen recorded a 1:31.15. The time was good for 12th place and 30 team points.

UP NEXT

The Nittany Lions return to action tomorrow, Friday February 21 at 10 a.m. for preliminaries and 5:30 p.m. for finals. The Big Ten Tournament will close out on Saturday, February 21 with events beginning at 10 a.m.
