UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State Women’s Tennis (6-1) travels to Las Vegas for contests against Colorado (5-1) on Saturday, Feb. 22 and UNLV (6-0) the next day. Both matches will be at noon at Fertitta Tennis Complex. The Buffaloes and Rebels will play each other on Friday, Feb. 21 to lead off the weekend.
The Nittany Lions’ 6-1 start is the team’s best seven-match start since the 2012-13 campaign (7-0). Penn State is ranked 52nd in the ITA Poll.

- Penn State dominated a three-match weekend with a 7-0 victory against St. Bonaventure on Saturday, Feb. 8 and 4-0 wins over Niagara on Saturday and Mount St. Mary’s on Sunday.
- Juniors Olivia Dorner and Maiko Uchijima, ranked No. 77 by ITA, bested St. Bonaventure’s Isabella Venter and Cirkeline Lundberg 6-0 on court one.
- Sophomore Jordina Cegarra and freshman Patricia Grigoras earned a 6-2 victory over Niagara’s Mercedes Velasco and Saloni Tamang on court two and a 6-1 win against Mount St. Mary’s’ Bella Pescatore and Venus Tang at the top spot.
- Senior Yvonne Zuffova worked with two freshmen in doubles over the weekend. Alongside Maria Daciana Ciubotaru on court three, she defeated the Bonnies’ Kashish Bote and Kelly Barnes 6-3 and Niagara’s Valeria Mora and Larisa Kotok 7-5. Paired with Jelena Vico on court two, she beat the Mount’s Amari O’Brien and Margherita Trolese 6-2.
- Dorner grabbed two court one singles victories against St. Bonaventure’s Lundberg 6-1, 6-0 and the Mountaineers’ Trolese 6-0, 6-0.
- Uchijima picked up wins on court two over the Bonnies’ Venter 6-3, 6-2 and the Purple Eagles’ Melo 6-2, 6-1.
- Grigoras won against SBU’s Tamara Bachmann 6-3, 6-1 on court three and Niagara’s Kotok 6-1, 6-1 on court two.
- Vico beat St. Bonaventure’s Sienna Smith 6-1, 7-5 and the Purple Eagles’ Tamang 6-1, 6-0 on court four. She took down the Mount’s Kajaal Ramisetty 6-1, 6-0 on court three.
- Zuffova defeated the Bonnies’ Bote 6-0, 6-0 on court five.
- Cegarra earned a win over St. Bonaventure’s Kelly Barnes 6-1, 6-2 at the six spot.
Scouting Report
Colorado
- The Buffaloes hold a 5-1 record and are coming off a 4-0 victory against New Mexico on Feb. 8.
- Colorado is led by the doubles pair of No. 21 Anya Nelson and Ema Bubalo. In the NCAA Doubles Championship, they defeated No. 77 Dorner and Uchijima, 6-3, 3-6, 10-6. The pair is 4-2 during the spring and 17-3 overall.
- The team has had multiple players on court one singles with Anya El Saed, Mila Stanojevic and Betina Tokac all picking up wins.
UNLV
- The Rebels are undefeated 6-0 on the season. They last played on Feb. 16, a 6-1 win over Idaho State.
- Cindy Hu sits at 4-2 on court one singles for the spring, 10-6 overall. Paired with Coco Zhao, she is 6-0 on court two doubles.
- Zhao, Nikol Mircheva and Kaho Oyama are all 6-0 on courts three, four and five respectively.
