UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Hockey Commissioners Association named Penn State women’s ice hockey junior goaltender Katie DeSa a semifinalist for the Goalie of the Year award Friday afternoon. This is DeSa’s first time as a semifinalist in her career.
This season, DeSa has tallied a record of 22-4-0, goals against average of 1.29, and save percentage of .940. She’s picked up eight shutout wins and is currently on a 12-game win streak. She’s earned seven Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) Goaltender of the Week honors this season and two AHA Goaltender of the Month honors. She currently leads the AHA in GAA, shutouts, and save percentage. The Pawcatuck, Conn. native, also sits second in the nation in wins, fourth in GAA, and eighth in save percentage. DeSa sits second in program history for most wins by a goalie in a single season.
Her eight shutout wins on the year, is the second most in a single season in program history. She is the only Nittany Lion goaltender in program history to be named a semifinalist for the award.
Penn State returns to action on Friday, February 7 when they host Mercyhurst. The puck drops at 6 p.m.
