UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The Penn State men’s tennis team is set to host three matches at home this weekend. The squad will face St. Bonaventure at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8 and Toledo at 10 a.m. and Mount St. Mary’s at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9. All four matches will be held at the Indoor Tennis Center.
The Nittany Lions were originally scheduled to take on St. Joseph's on Saturday at 3 p.m., but the match has been canceled due to impending winter weather.
THE NITTANY LIONS
Penn State enters the weekend with a 5-1 record after an away weekend in New Haven, Conn. With a 4-2 win over Buffalo on Sunday Feb. 2, the Blue and White are ready to play back in Happy Valley and host their next stretch of opponents.
SCOUTING ST. BONAVENTURE
The Bonnies currently hold a 0-5 record this season. This will mark the 21st meeting between these two teams, with Penn State holding a 20-0 record in all time matchups over St. Bonaventure.
PREVIEWING TOLEDO
The Nittany Lions look to capture a win against the 2-2 Rockets after last year’s 4-3 loss to Toledo at home. The Rockets' only losses this season come from fellow Big Ten opponents, No.3 Ohio State and Indiana. Penn State leads Toledo 8-1 in all time wins.
LOOKING AT MOUNT ST. MARY’S
The Mountaineers began their season 2-1, coming off a close loss to Navy. The last meeting of Penn State and St. Mary’s resulted in a 4-3 win for the Blue and White. Penn State holds a 3-0 record historically.
UP NEXT
Following the back-to-back doubleheaders, the squad looks to host a three-match next weekend at home. On Saturday Feb. 15, the Blue and White will host a doubleheader against Saint Francis at 9:30 a.m. and Drexel at 2:30 p.m. On Sunday, Feb. 16, the men will host Georgetown for a 1 p.m. matchup. All three matches will be hosted at the Indoor Tennis Center.
