UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The Penn State men’s tennis team defeated St. Bonaventure, 7-0, in a strong match. Senior Loren Byers and freshman Marcus Schoeman took the top singles spots, defeating both of their opponents, 6-1, 6-2, with sophomore Nolan Rangers winning a dominating, 6-2, 6-0, match on Court 6.
DOUBLES
Playing at first doubles, Charl Morgan and David Lindsay took the set into a match tiebreak, defeating Chase Cahill-Welsh and Connor Turner 7-6(4).
Sam Bossem and Loren Byers partnered up at the second spot, defeating Anargha Ganguly and Davis Matney, 6-4.
On court three, Stefan Simeunovic and Jack Martuccio won by forfeit.
SINGLES
On the top court, Byers defeated Turner in a quick, 6-1, 6-2, match.
At the second spot, Schoeman, won his match, 6-1, 6-2, over Ganguly.
Reiya Hattori played at third singles, battling against Matney, but pulled away with the 6-1, 7-6(4) victory.
On Court 4, Lindsay claimed the 6-2, 6-2 victory over Cahill-Welsh.
Nolan Ranger took on Alex Kim on court five, defeating him in a well played 6-2, 6-0 match.
At sixth singles, Denys Forgaci won by forfeit.
UP NEXT
The Nittany Lions host a doubleheader tomorrow Sunday, Feb. 9 at the Indoor Tennis Center. The first match against Mount St. Mary’s is set to begin a 10 a.m. and their second match will follow at 3 p.m.
