UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The No. 69 Penn State men’s tennis team is prepped to host No. 39 Nebraska and Wisconsin at home this weekend. The Blue and White will matchup against the Cornhuskers on Friday, March 21 at 5 p.m. and the Badgers on Sunday, March 23 at 11 a.m. Both matches are set to be played at the Sarni Tennis Center, weather permitting.
Friday’s match against Nebraska will feature a pizza giveaway and Sunday’s match versus Wisconsin will include a donut giveaway to fans in attendance.
THE NITTANY LIONS
Coming off a trip to the West Coast, Penn State looks to claim Big Ten victories this weekend at home. Graduate Student Loren Byers was named Big Ten Player of the Week last week and has earned the No. 91 spot in the ITA Rankings for Singles.
SCOUTING NEBRASKA
The Cornhuskers enter Happy Valley ranked at No. 39 with a 9-5 (2-2) record. This past weekend, the then-ranked No.49 Nebraska team took down No. 17 Michigan, but fell to No. 36 Michigan State. The Cornhuskers hold two rankings on their roster including No. 73 Calvin Mueller in singles and doubles duo Lars Johann and Anton Shepp at No. 29. The Nittany Lions hold a 7-5 record lead over Nebraska historically.
EYEING THE BADGERS
Wisconsin holds a 7-5 (1-3) record on the season. The Badgers come off a split weekend, defeating then-ranked No. 36 Michigan State, but falling to No. 17 Michigan. Historically, the Badgers have a 19-14 lead over Penn State.
UP NEXT
Following the weekend, the Nittany Lions will hit the road again to take on No. 29 Michigan State on Saturday, March 29 and No. 22 Michigan on Sunday, March 30. Both matches are slated to begin at 11 a.m.
