Women’s Ice Hockey’s Tessa Janecke Named Second Team CCM/AHCA Division I All-American

She became the Penn State ice hockey (men’s and women’s) all-time leader in points in a 4-0 shutout win over Lindenwood on January 25. Janecke currently has 153 points on 63 goals and 90 assists for her career. Her 53 points this season ties a single-season program record. 

Janecke took home both AHA Player and Forward of the Year awards. She is the program’s fifth straight conference Player of the Year alongside Kiara Zanon (2020-21 and 2022-23) and Natalie Heising (2021-22). She is also the AHA Scoring Champion for the second year in a row with 28 points in conference play. 

The team captain earned her third consecutive All-CHA/AHA First Team selection on February 26. Janecke was named the AHA Forward of the Month in October and November and the conference’s Forward of the Week four times (October 7, November 18, January 27 and March 3). 

She paces the conference and nation in faceoff wins with 617, over 100 more than the next highest total. Janecke ranks in the top 10 nationally in points, points per game (1.39), goals, goals per game (0.63) and short-handed goals (two). She is 13th in power play goals (six), tied for 13th in assists and 15th in assists per game (.76). 

She led the AHA in points, points per game, goals, goals per game, shots (219), shots per game (5.76) and plus/minus (+35). Janecke is second in assists and assists per game. She is tied for second in the league in power play goals and tied for third in short-handed goals. 

On March 5, U.S. Hockey announced the Orangeville, Illinois, native, will don the Stars and Stripes at the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Women's World Championship in České Budějovice, Czechia from April 9-20. It is the third year in a row Janecke is on the U.S. Women's National Team. They took home gold in 2023 and silver in 2024 at the IIHF Women’s World Championship.  

She has played 38 games over her career with the U.S. Women's National Team, totaling 32 points on 16 goals and 16 assists. At the 2023 and 2024 IIHF Women's World Championship, Janecke recorded 10 points with four goals and six assists across 14 games. At the U18 IIHF Women's World Championship in 2022, she scored three goals and assisted on three more in just five games. 

Janecke dominated the 2024 Collegiate Series against Canada with an incredible four goals and three assists in just three games. Janecke notched three goals at the 2022 event. She has played in three Rivalry Series events (2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25). She tallied three assists in as many games at this season’s competition. 

Janecke led the Nittany Lions to a program-best 31 wins including an AHA record of 19 conference victories. The team won their third consecutive AHA Championship en route to an NCAA Tournament appearance.
