UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women’s tennis team (13-7, 4-6 B1G) travels to Columbus, Ohio for a matchup with No. 10 Ohio State (15-2, 9-1 B1G) on Saturday, April 12.
The Nittany Lions enter the matchup ranked No. 51 according to ITA.
In Case You Missed it
- Penn State dropped matches at Illinois and Northwestern over the weekend. Both by 4-0 decisions.
- Against Illinois, Olivia Dorner led her court one match against McKenna Schaefbauer, 6-4, 4-2, when it went unfinished. Dorner put together another strong performance in her matchup with No. 122 Erica Jessel of Northwestern. She took the first set before the match concluded.
- Jordina Cegarra reached a third set on court four against Illinois’ Kida Ferrari before their match was stopped.
- At Northwestern, Maria Daciana Ciubotaru held a 7-5, 2-1 advantage over Kiley Rabjohns on court five when it went unfinished.
Scouting Report
- With a 15-2 (9-1 B1G) record, the Buckeyes place second in the Big Ten standings.
- Ohio State is coming off a weekend sweep of Northwestern, 4-0, and Illinois, 4-1, this past weekend.
- Luciana Perry and Teah Chavez are ranked as the No. 16 doubles pair in the nation according to ITA. They hold an 11-3 record, 9-3 on court one. They are 6-3 in Big Ten play.
- Perry is ranked No. 9 for singles. She is 26-7 on the season with a 7-1 conference record. Her partner, Chavez, is No. 29 in singles with a 22-7 overall record. In Big ten action, she is 4-0.
- Other ranked Buckeyes include No. 88 Sydni Ratliff, No. 94 Audrey Spencer and No. 120 Shelly Bereznyak.
- Ratliff is 15-8 (5-0 B1G) this season. Spencer holds a 20-12 (4-2 B1G) mark while Bereznyak is 22-6 (6-1 B1G).
