UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Jake Griffin finished in sixth place to lead the way for the Penn State men’s golf team at the 48th-annual Rutherford Intercollegiate as the Nittany Lions’ home event wrapped up Sunday at the Penn State Blue Course.
The Nittany Lions finished sixth in the team race at 18-over, 870. Penn State shot a 290 in the first round, 285 in the second round and 295 in the third round.
Jake Griffin (71-71-70) led the way for the Nittany Lions, finishing in sixth place at 1-under, 212 to earn his first top-10 finish of the season.
Morgan Lofland (71-73-75) and Alex Creamean (74-71-74) both tied for 24th at 6-over, 219.
Andres Barraza (74-70-79) finished in 37th at 10-over, 223, while Zach Smith (75-77-76) rounded out the team lineup with a 55th-place finish at 15-over, 228.
Penn State’s three individuals fared well with Robby O’Regan (73-74-73) leading the way in 27th place at 7-over, 220. Jud Langille (73-76-74) and Will Preston (72-76-75) both finished tied for 37th at 10-over, 223.
The Nittany Lions now turn their attention to Big Ten Championships, slated for April 25-27, at the Baltimore Country Club.
