Track and Field Teams Wrap Up Day One of Florida Relays

Nittany Lions record five personal-record marks on day one

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Penn State completed the first day of the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla. as four Nittany Lions recorded personal-record marks and three notched top-10 program marks.  

TOP PERFORMANCES  

Nathan Williams had a standout performance in the men’s hammer throw. Williams improved his own No. 7 mark in program history by over three meters after he recorded a 66.83-meter (219-3) throw to finish in third.  

Williams’ No. 3 mark slots in right above teammate Collin Burkhart (65.43m) as the duo have been a dynamic throwing force to start the outdoor season.  

Freshman Ada Rand placed fifth in the women’s 1500-meter invite after running a 4:17.39 race to set a new PR and take the No. 8 spot in program history. 

Nick Sloff ran the men’s 1500-meter invite and placed fourth as he set a new PR time of 3:43.31.  

Maddie Ullom ran a 10:16.91 in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase to place second, setting a new PR and tying Tracey Brauksieck (2003) for the No. 8 mark in program history. Kileigh Kane finished right behind Ullom in third with a time of 10:21.43. 

TRACK EVENT SUMMARY 

Women’s 200m  

Women’s 400m Hurdles 

  • Addy White finished 33rd overall with a time of 1:01.45 to set a new PR 

Women’s Steeplechase 

  • Ullom placed second with a time of 10:16.91 to set a new PR
  • Kane placed third with a time of 10:21.43  

Women’s 1500m Invite  

  • Rand places fifth overall with a time of 4:17.39 to set a new PR 

Men’s 1500m  

  • David Locke finished 14th overall with a time of 3:56.26 

Men’s 1500m Invite 

  • Sloff finished fourth overall with a time of 3:43.31 to set a new PR 

FIELD EVENT SUMMARY   

Men’s Hammer Throw  

  • Williams placed third with a throw of 66.83m (219-3) to set a new PR 
  • Burkhart placed 11th after recording a 60.51m (198-6) throw
