Men’s Basketball Signs Slovenian Forward Tibor Mirtič

Mirtič to join Nittany Lions for 2025-26 season

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Peter and Ann Tombros Endowed Head Coach Mike Rhoades has announced the signing of six-foot-nine Slovenian forward Tibor Mirtič ahead of the 2025-26 season.

  • Comes to Penn State after playing 2024-25 season with Krka Novo Mesto, a team that plays in both Slovenia’s top professional league, Liga OTP banka, and the ABA League.
  • Averaged 7.8 points and 4.7 rebounds per game in 26 games in Krka’s Liga OTP banka contests while shooting 53.0 percent (79-149) from two-point range and 41.7 percent (5-12) from three-point range.
  • Had eight double-digit scoring performances and two double-doubles in Liga OTP banka contests, including a 20-point and 11-rebound double-double against Helios Suns on Jan. 2, 2025.
  • Contributed 11.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game in Krka’s 20 games in the ABA League while shooting 66.2 percent (94-142) from two-point range and 44.4 percent (4-9) from deep.
  • Scored in double figures in 13 of 20 ABA League games, highlighted by a 22-point performance on 9-of-11 shooting against Cibona on Feb. 1, 2025.
  • Competed in 2025 FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers for Slovenian National Team, highlighted by a six-point, five-rebound effort against Portugal.
  • Represented Slovenia in FIBA U20 (2023, 2022), U18 (2021) and U16 (2019) European Championships.
