UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The defending Atlantic Hockey America regular season and tournament champion Penn State women’s ice hockey program welcomed eight newcomers to the team’s 2025-26 roster, head coach Jeff Kampersal announced Wednesday.
“We are elated to welcome eight elite women to Penn State. Collectively, they will thrive in our culture,” commented Kampersal. “They have a team full of role-models to help shape each of their journeys and we are eager to get skating at the end of August.”
Penn State’s group of eight newcomers represent three nations with the United States, Canada and Italy each sending prospects to Happy Valley, with four U.S. states and a pair of Canadian provinces providing future Nittany Lions. The class is comprised of seven freshmen signees and one graduate transfer, with St. Lawrence transfer forward Taylor Lum serving as the only new Penn Stater coming from the college ranks. PSU will welcome a pair of netminders in Madison Campbell and Lauren Hernick, three forwards in Lum, Matilde Fantin and Mikah Keller, as well as three blue-liners in Danica Maynard, Sophie Morrow and Shelby Shane. Penn State’s octet of new arrivals will join a program fresh off the winningest season in its history, as the 2024-25 Nittany Lions registered a 31-6-1 overall record en route to securing back-to-back Atlantic Hockey America regular season and tournament crowns.
