Women's Golf Earns Co-Championship at 2025 Evie Odom Invitational

Penn State and Maryland share team title at Evie Odom Invitational with matching 14-over scores

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Penn State women's golf team used the low round of the day on Saturday to climb a pair of sports and finish as the Co-Champions of the 2025 Evie Odom Invitational. The Nittany Lions shot 2-under, 278, in the final round Saturday finishing the week 14-over, 854, and tied with Maryland.

Penn State sees its successful fall season come to a close with their second team championship and the third top-3 finish or better in four events.

Georgia (19-over), South Alabama (24-over) and North Florida (25-over) rounded out the top-five for the week.

Freshman Mara King had her coming out party this week carding her lowest collegiate finish in sixth at 1-over, 211, following a 1-under, 69, on Saturday after back-to-back rounds of 1-over, 71, to open the week.

“Coach Simpson always says, ‘be where your feet are’ and that helped me the most this week,” mentioned King. “My main goal was to have fun and it’s really easy to have fun with this team. Just being present in every shot and remembering how capable I am of playing well was something that stuck with me this week. My game felt really well rounded as a whole, I hit a lot of fairways, my iron play was consistent and I putted well.”

Fellow freshman Audrey Lam used back-to-back rounds of 1-under, 69, following an opening round 74 to finish in a tie for seventh at 2-over, 212. Sophomore Hannah Rabb also finished tied for seventh at 2-over, 212, following her low round of the week on Saturday as she too carded a 1-under, 69, as the Nittany Lions had three players in red figures for the day.

Sophomore Yaya Jiratthitinun bounced back from a tough opening round 9-over, 79, with a pair of 71’s to finish the week tied for 40th at 11-over while freshman Lillian Guleserian rounded out the team scoring at 18-over for the week.

Playing as an individual sophomore Lauren Thompstone carded a 1-over, 71, on Saturday, her low round of the week and finished the tournament tied for 31st at 9-over, 219.
