MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. – The No. 4 Penn State women’s ice hockey team dominated Lindenwood 5-0 to complete the season series sweep in their last road trip of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Just over three minutes into the first period, Mikah Keller won an offensive zone draw back to Grace Outwater who took a shot and scored.
- With over six minutes to go in the first period, Maddy Christian passed it to Abby Stonehouse in the low slot and she took a shot that beat Lindenwood’s Bowtell to double the lead.
- Late in the second period, Mikah Keller threw the puck towards the net and it deflected off a Lindenwood defender and into to the goal.
- Less than five minutes into the third, Katelyn Roberts fired a shot past Lindenwood’s Bowtell on a 2-on-1 to make it 4-0.
- With less than eight minutes to play, Maddy Christian passed it to Grace Outwater as she went towards the net and she spun around while backhanding the puck towards the net and scored.
GOALTENDERS
- Penn State senior goaltender Katie DeSa made 26 saves in the shutout.
- Lindenwood goaltender Madison Bowtell made 29 saves.
STATS AND NOTES
- Grace Outwater has goals in nine straight games which is the second-longest active goal streak nationally behind Minnesota’s Abbey Murphy.
- It is now the second longest streak by any skater nationally this season.
- Outwater also now leads the entire AHA in goals and sits tied for fourth nationally.
- Maddy Christian extended her point streak to seven games, she has 10 points in that span.
- Katie DeSa broke the program record for most shutouts in a single season with 10.
- She leads the nation in the same category, while the Nittany Lions lead all teams nationally with 14 shutouts this season.
- Abby Stonehouse is now on a three-game point streak.
- Danica Maynard now sits alone at third nationally in plus minus at +41.
