Thomas Wright enters his second season as assistant coach in 2026-27 after joining the Nittany Lions in January 2026.
During Wright’s first season in Happy Valley in the spring of 2026, Penn State earned 16 dual match victories and continued to establish itself as a tough competitor in one of the nation's premier conferences. The Nittany Lions earned key Big Ten victories, including wins over Purdue, Washington and nationally-ranked Northwestern. Three Nittany Lions earned Academic All-District honors, highlighting success both on the court and in the classroom.
Wright came to Penn State after most recently working as the Head Professional of Competitive Development at the Orinda Country Club in California. While at OCC, he served as a practice partner for No. 1 ATP Tour and 3-time US Open doubles champion Rajeev Ram and for No. 20 ATP Tour and Australian Open semi-finalist Andre Goransson.
Wright’s professional playing career includes winning the Irish National Indoors (doubles), the County Dublin Championships (doubles), and representing the USA in the Avory Cup.
Wright played collegiately at the University of California, Berkeley (Cal) from 2017 to 2021, where he served as team captain in 2021.
