Curtis White is in his 27th year as head coach of the cheerleading program and has more than 32 years of coaching experience at both the high school and collegiate levels. As the spirit coordinator, White oversees Penn State’s cheer, dance and mascot programs.
Under White's leadership, the Penn State cheerleading squads have won two national championships and been recognized nationally for their outstanding ability to engage Penn State fans. The 2023 cheerleading team placed in the top 10 at the College Cheerleading National Championship.
In 2024, the Lionettes Dance team placed third nationally in the pom division, the highest ranking for the Lionettes at the UDA National Championship.
The Nittany Lion mascot has also gained national recognition with top 10 National Finalist rankings in each of the last seven years. The Nittany Lion mascot was also inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame in 2019.
White is an alum of the Penn State Cheerleading program.
