Rachel Moyer serves as an athletics mental health therapist. With more than eight years of experience, Moyer brings a unique perspective as a former student-athlete working in the mental health field.
Moyer graduated from Penn State Harrisburg in 2015 with a bachelor's degree. in psychology, where she also played on the women’s basketball team. Furthering her education, she obtained two master's degrees - one from University of Pennsylvania in 2017 and another from McDaniel College in 2018. Since 2020, Rachel has held state licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC).
Moyer's career spans various settings, including residential group homes, drug & alcohol outpatient programs, and alternative education. Prior to Penn State, Rachel directed an experiential learning program for at-risk youth that focused on relationship and community building through trust and teamwork exercises. Additionally, she served as a drug & alcohol liaison and coordinated outpatient drug and alcohol services for all schools in Cumberland County.
In addition to her counseling work, Moyer coached high school girls' basketball for eight years and serves as an adjunct professor in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Graduate Program at Lebanon Valley College.
These experiences have equipped Moyer with the skills to create an open and authentic therapeutic style, fostering an inclusive and welcoming space for all student-athletes.
