Shea Brown serves as the wellness and clinical services coordinator in the Athletic Clinical Psychology Department, where she plays a pivotal role in enhancing mental health and wellness initiatives for student athletes. In her capacity, Brown collaborates closely with the director of athletics clinical psychology to implement comprehensive support programs, offering personalized action plans and ongoing assistance to student-athletes in need. She manages crisis situations alongside the clinical care team, ensuring both in-person and on-call support systems are effective.
Originally from Worcester, Massachusetts, Brown earned her bachelor's degree in human development and family studies from Penn State in 2024. During her undergraduate tenure, Brown worked with the football program, where she served as an administrative coordinator and recruiting intern. In her role, she analyzed and translated high school recruit transcripts for NCAA compliance, coordinated schedules for coaches and staff, managed domestic travel logistics and maintained office operations.
Building on her extensive experience with athletics, Brown transitioned to an internship with the Athletic Clinical Psychology Department, where her passion for supporting student-athletes’ mental well-being flourished. In this role, Brown met with student-athletes to facilitate case management needs, attended Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging meetings and ran support groups. Brown also attended and participated in high performance meetings, tracked data and created a digital referral form for the department.
Brown is currently pursuing a master’s in clinical mental health and rehabilitation counseling at Penn State.
Beyond her clinical responsibilities, Brown also manages internal and external communications for the department, ensuring clear and effective messaging to stakeholders. She is dedicated to the holistic well-being of student-athletes and commitment to fostering a supportive environment.
