Zorin Istvan serves as Assistant Director for Career Development and Transitional Programming at Penn State University Athletics, supporting student-athletes across the department in their preparation for careers and life after sport.
Istvan oversees career readiness programming for Penn State student-athletes, including resume and cover letter development, interview preparation, job and internship search strategies, and professional networking. He leads workshops focused on the practical skills needed for the transition out of sport and meets individually with student-athletes to connect them with employment and internship opportunities aligned with their goals. His work also includes supporting students through graduate and professional school application processes and providing tailored resources for first-generation students, international students, and students from underrepresented backgrounds.
A central part of Istvan's role is helping student-athletes translate their experience as competitors into a professional context identifying how the discipline, adaptability, and teamwork developed through sport applies to the workplace. He works closely with campus and community partners to expand the opportunities available to Penn State student-athletes and collaborates with academic and compliance staff to support post-graduate scholarship and award opportunities.
Prior to joining Penn State, Istvan served as a Graduate Assistant with Tiger Life at Louisiana State University, where he advised student-athlete organizations and supported professional development programming across the department. He also gained experience in football recruiting at both LSU and West Virginia University and interned with the Minnesota Vikings during the 2024 training camp season.
Istvan holds a Master of Business Administration with a specialization in Sport Business from Louisiana State University and a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from West Virginia University.
