BEFORE PENN STATE
A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Walters arrives at Penn State following a dominant rookie season at in-state rival and fellow 2024 NCAA Tournament participant Saint Francis… Walters contributed heavily to Saint Francis’ NEC Regular Season and Tournament Championship runs, starting and playing in all 55 games for the Red Flash, predominately in the middle infield… Walters contributed 42 hits, 41 runs scored, an eye-popping 45 walks and a dominant 29-steal season on the basepath… Walters’ astounding .473 on-base percentage ranked inside the top 100 nationally in addition to ranking second in the conference… In her single season in Loretto, Walters garnered First Team All-Northeast Conference honors, NEC All-Rookie distinction, two NEC Rookie of the Week honors and a pair of appearances as an NEC Prime Performer.
HIGH SCHOOL
Walters was a dominant student-athlete at Council Rock South High School in her native Keystone State, helping the program excel to the highest levels of competition in the Commonwealth… In her senior season, Walters hit .394 with 34 runs scored and 23 stolen bases, both leading the league in her final campaign… Walters scored 79 runs and 68 stolen bases across her 61 career games… In 2023, she was named First Team All-League Suburban One Shortstop and picked up a pair of team MVP awards… Walters was also nominated for the Pennsylvania All-State Team, and academically excelled as an honor roll student… She handled her travel ball commitments with Rock Gold Waye based out of Southhampton, Pennsylvania.
PERSONAL
Kaylie Walters was born in the spring of 2005 and is one of Kim Marcakis' and Michael Walters’ four daughters… She has a trio of siblings, with two older sisters named Gianna and Danielle, with one younger sister named Lillianna… Her sister, Danielle, was a softball student-athlete at Bloomfield College, graduating in 2024… Her sister Gianna attended Penn State and graduated from PSU in 2022… Walters is studying Labor and Human Resources at the Pennsylvania State University and plans to graduate in the spring of 2027 with her bachelor’s degree… Walters hopes to leverage her education into a career in the business field, or potentially return to softball as a coach… In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
