Miriam Powell

Miriam Powell begins her fi rst season as the director of operations for the Penn State fi eld hockey team. Powell, former director of community outreach for the Penn State women’s basketball team, comes to Penn State from the Jana Marie Foundation. Powell graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1995 and graduated from the University of Minnesota’s Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Licensure Program in Social Studies Education in 1997. She began her professional career as a teacher at Holy Trinity High School in Winsted, Minn. in 1997. She spent a year at Vision Quest Alternative Education Program in South Mountain, Pa. and the moved on the The Milton Hershey School. Powell spent nearly a decade as a teacher in the Mechanicsburg School district as well. Powell was the director of community outreach for the Penn State women’s basketball team from 2016 to 2019 and spent the past year as the community engagement manager at the Jana Marie Foundation.
