Adrienne Motley was promoted to an assistant coach ahead of the 2024-25 campaign as she begins her first season as a coach under head coach Carolyn Kieger.
Motley served as the Director of Player Development for the duration of the 2023-24 season. She helped players on and off the court in the historic Lady Lion campaign. The team made a run in the inaugural Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament Final Four while posting their best overall record in 10 years.
Motley previously competed collegiately at the University of Miami (Fla.). where she played under current Penn State head coach Carolyn Kieger, who was on the Miami staff as an assistant coach.
While in Miami, Motley was a four-year starter for the Hurricanes, compiling a total of 1,844 points in 129 contests. She earned honorable mention All-America honors as well as Regional Finalist accolades from the Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Association, four consecutive placements on All-ACC teams, including two first team nods, and a Senior CLASS Award in her final collegiate season. Success at the NCAA level led her to becoming the 32nd selection of the 2017 WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever.
Soon after turning pro, she went on to play professionally in Europe.
She played for the Lulea Basket (Sweden), Celta Zorka Vigo (Spain), AO Eleftheria Moshatou (Greece), MBK Ruzomberok (Slovakia), and most recently, Rapid Bucharest (Romania).
A few of the honors she earned overseas include a 2023 Romanian League Guard of the Year and first team selection, a 2022 Slovakian Extraliga second team honor and a 2019 Spanish Liga Femenina first team award.
Motley gained valuable leadership and community skills through involvement in several organizations. She notably worked as an assistant coach for the Boo Williams Summer League Girls 16U Elite Team and the Minnesota Fury Under Armour Elite Team.
